Arsenal agree £75m deal to sign Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes

Arsenal have agreed a £75m deal with Newcastle United to sign Brazil midfielder and club captain Bruno Guimaraes, according to respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Romano confirmed the agreement on his official X account, using his trademark phrase, “Here We Go”. He said Arsenal had reached an agreement with Newcastle following lengthy negotiations, having already agreed personal terms with the 28-year-old in July.

Guimaraes is set to become the latest addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad as Arsenal prepare for the new season. The deal is one of the biggest expected moves of the summer transfer window and represents a major step in the club’s efforts to strengthen its midfield.

Arsenal began direct negotiations with Newcastle in recent days after discussions moved beyond intermediaries and developed into formal talks between the two clubs. The Gunners had identified Guimaraes as one of the leading midfielders in the Premier League and made his signing a priority.

The Brazil international has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most prominent midfielders since joining Newcastle. He continued to produce strong performances for the club last season, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists in all competitions.

Arteta had previously hinted that Arsenal were active in the transfer market.
