Arsenal Legend Ian Wright Praises Iwobi and Youngsters, Anticipates Bright Future Under New Manager

In an exclusive interview, Arsenal legend Ian Wright has expressed his belief that Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi and other talented young players at the club will shine under the guidance of a new manager set to replace Arsene Wenger next season. Wright’s comments come as Wenger bid farewell to his final Premier League home game, with Arsenal securing a resounding 5-0 victory over Burnley on Sunday to solidify their sixth position in the league table.

Iwobi played a pivotal role in the match against Burnley, finding the back of the net in the 64th minute, marking his third league goal of the season. The Nigerian international’s performance was complemented by goals from January signing Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang, Alexandre Lacazette, and Sead Kolasinac.

Speaking as a pundit on Match of The Day 2, Wright, who holds the title of Arsenal’s second-highest goalscorer of all time with an impressive 185 goals from 288 appearances, expressed his confidence that the incoming manager will seamlessly integrate with the club’s young talents.

“When you look at (Ainsley) Maitland-Niles, Iwobi, (Kostantinos) Mavropanos, Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock, if that’s all they’ve got in terms of young players, I feel those players are good enough to go to the next level with somebody who is going to coach them and help them progress,” stated Wright, a Premier League winner with Arsenal in 1998.

Wright emphasized the importance of a manager who is committed to fostering talent from the academy, stating, “Anybody that is looking to progress the players, young or old, as long as they are ready to promote people from the academy like the boys I’ve just named.”

As Arsenal prepares for a new era under fresh leadership, the spotlight will be on the potential of young talents such as Iwobi, Maitland-Niles, Mavropanos, Nelson, and Willock. Fans and pundits eagerly await the announcement of Wenger’s successor, hoping for a manager who can unlock the full potential of these promising individuals and guide Arsenal back to their former glory.

The future looks bright for Arsenal’s young stars, as they eagerly anticipate the arrival of a new manager who can nurture their talents and propel the club to new heights.
