Asisat Oshoala praises Rasheedat Ajibade despite Nigeria’s narrow loss to Brazil

Nigeria international Asisat Oshoala took to social media to express her pride in her teammates’ performance, particularly Rasheedat Ajibade despite the Super Falcons began their Olympic campaign with a narrow 1-0 defeat against Brazil in France.
Oshoala, the reigning African Player of the Year who was an unused substitute in the game, highlighted Ajibade’s impressive performance as the team’s captain.
Despite Nigeria’s loss, with Gabi Nunes scoring the decisive goal off an assist from the legendary Marta, Oshoala commended Ajibade’s relentless effort on the right wing.
After previous setbacks against Brazil, including a 4-3 extra-time loss at the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup and a 3-1 defeat at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Nigeria hoped to break Brazil’s dominance.
Although the Randy Waldrum-led team showed some promise, particularly in the final third, they were ultimately unable to secure a result.
Oshoala rated Ajibade’s performance exceptionally high, giving her a “100/10” rating on social media. “100/10,” Oshoala posted, underscoring her appreciation for Ajibade’s contribution despite the team’s defeat.
