Bala Nikyu quits coaching role at Nasarawa United after Elkanemi Warriors loss

Bala Nikyu has quit his coaching role as technical adviser of Nasarawa United on Saturday following run of disappointing results with the Nigeria Premier Football League outfit, the club has announced.
In a statement, Nikyu left the Solid Miners on mutual consent after three seasons in charge of the Lafia-based outfit.
His departure came after guiding the club to another miserable run of poor results, including the latest 2-1 loss to El-Kanemi Warriors which left Nasarawa dropping to relegation places in ninth on the Group A log.
Following the defeat in Jos, the former Nigeria U17 women coach resolved to part ways with the club, while thanking the club and its wonderful supporters for the opportunity given to him to serve.
Confirming the development, the club chairman Barr. Isaac Danladi, has welcomed the decision of Coach Nikyu’s resignation, and wished him the best in his future endeavour.
“This is not the best time for us as a club in the Nigeria Premier Football League,” Danladi told the club’s media.
“We thank the Coach for his wisdom to step down from his role. Yes, the results are not what we ever envisaged, but we hope this is the best for both parties, going forward.
“We have but seven league matches remaining and we have a herculean task on our hands to stabilize in the league.
“There is no better time to join forces than now. Everyone has to be at his best to ensure the highest possible result for our darling Club and our teaming supporters.”
Subsequently, the management has confirmed the promotion of his assistant, Abubakar Arikya, to an acting head coach position pending the appointment of a substantive technical adviser. Arikya will be working with Samson Keshi Marwa, Balarabe Ibrahim and Ibrahim Yahaya Sabo as his assistants.
