Bankole Olowookere: Flamingos coach bags Polytechnic Students Association award

The head coach of Nigeria U-17 girls, Bankole Olowookere has continued to earn recognition after his historic feat with the Flamingos at the last FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup.
The National Association of Polytechnic Students National headquarters presented him with the icon of inspiration award this month.
The award was presented on Thursday, February 15, 2024 in recognition of his selfless sacrifice, humanistic endeavour and Ray of Hope to humanity as well his contributions to girls child empowerment through football.
Olowookere led the Flamingos to their best ever finish at the 2022 FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup in India.
The West African team narrowly lost the semi final match on penalties to Colombia before they they redeemed themselves with penalty victory over Germany in the third place match to claim the bronze medal.
The Flamingos defeated Central African Republic (CAR) 12-0 on aggregate in their last qualifying match and are on the brink of making it to the next FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup in Dominican Republic.
