Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Kwara United’s team manager Bashir Badawiy is not happy with the fact that the 2022/2023 NPFL season is yet to start.
The 2021/2022 season ended in July 2022 with the league expected to kick off before November 2022 and Badawiy says the league ought to have started before now as the inactivity of the league affected clubs on the continent.
“Why can we not expect the league to start? We should expect the league to start before now. We ended the league in League just in the name of starting in September,” Badawiy told Brila FM.
“We are heading towards December and the league is yet to start. The team is paying players salaries while the league is yet to commence.”
The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the NPFL has assured league fans that the league will kick off in December 2022 as teams continue to prepare and train for the season with friendly matches and pre-season tournaments hoping that the league will start before the end of the year.

League holders, Rivers United remains Nigeria’s sole representative on the continent in the CAF Confederation Cup after the ouster of Plateau United, Remo Stars, and Kwara United.
