Bayelsa Queens out for third place trophy against Simba Queens – Glory Edet

Bayelsa Queens player, Glory Edet is confident that the Nigeria side will defeat Simba Queens of Tanzania this weekend to win the third-place match at Stade Moulay Hassan in Rabat.
Having lost their respective semi-final matches, the Tanzanian and Nigerian champions will square up in the third-place match of the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco.
“About the team, we were down but now we are fine. What will happen in this game, people will not expect it because we thought we will be in the final and we are not,” Edet told media.
“Now we are going all out to make sure we get the third position for Nigeria.”
Bayelsa Queens is making its debut appearance at the tournament and has already made history becoming the first Nigeria side to make it to the semi-final.
“The level of competition is very high. We really appreciate them because they carried all the teams along. The teams perform well showing the world this is what women’s teams is all about,” Edet concluded.
Rivers Angels represented Nigeria and West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) alongside Hasaacas Ladies last year at the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League.
The Port Harcourt-based side crashed out at the group stage while Hasaacas Ladies reaches the final, losing 2-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.
Bayelsa Queens with a place in the third-place match is set to set a record for Nigerian teams at the second edition of the tournament with a win over Simba Queens on Saturday.
