Bayelsa State Government approves 400,00 Naira for NWFL Premiership title winning team

After winning the 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership title, the government of Bayelsa State has announced cash rewards for each player.

Each players of the Prosperity Girls will get 400,000 Naira largesse for winning their sixth league title in Ikenne, Ogun state on Saturday.

There is also a planned reception for the team upon return to Yenegoa, Bayelsa state capital.

Under the leadership of Coach Whyte Ogbonda, the Prosperity Girls achieved a remarkable 4-1 victory against Naija Ratels in their final NWFL playoff match held in Ikenne on Saturday, thereby securing the title with great flair.

Meanwhile, Bayelsa Queens topped the league standings, amassing 10 points from five matches, which enabled them to claim their sixth NWFL title.

In acknowledgment of this significant accomplishment, the Bayelsa State Government has expressed intentions to host the team and its officials upon their return to Yenagoa.

Looking ahead, the champions are set to participate in the WAFU B Champions League later this year.

They became the first Nigerian team to be taking part in the tournament since inception in 2021 after winning the title in 2022 and winning a bronze medal at the CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco.
