Bayern Munich show interest in Sadio Mane as Liverpool contract talks proving ‘difficult’

Bayern Munich are showing an interest in Liverpool winger Sadio Mane, according to reports emerging on Monday evening.

Mane has been a mainstay in Liverpool’s attack for many years now, playing key roles in their 2020 Premier League title win and their Champions League triumph in 2019.

Even in this season, despite Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota being handed a lot of minutes on the left flank, Mane has excelled in the centre-forward role in a number of huge games for the Reds as they continue their fight for the quadruple.

However, like Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, Mane will have just one year left to run on his current deal come the summer.

And now, it appears one of Europe’s elite are trying to take advantage of this. According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports, Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic wants to sign Sadio Mane this summer and even met with the African’s agent this past weekend.

It is added that talks between Liverpool and Mane over a contract extension are ‘difficult’:

Should Mane and Salah both leave Liverpool this summer, it would be a massive blow to the Reds.

And whilst Liverpool fans may wish to keep the pair for another year, it would make more sense for the Reds to cash in on them in the upcoming window, rather than lose them for free next year.
