Bolton Wanderers Eyeing Former Nigeria Striker Victor Anichebe as Free Agent Signing

Bolton Wanderers, the English Championship club, is reportedly considering the acquisition of former Nigeria striker Victor Anichebe. The 29-year-old, who recently became a free agent after his contract with Chinese outfit Beijing Enterprises expired, has emerged as a potential replacement for Gary Madine, who made a move to Cardiff City last month.
This speculation comes after Anichebe’s name was linked to Bolton by the Sunderland Echo. Anichebe had previously played for Sunderland during the 2016/2017 season, where he managed to score three goals in 18 appearances. However, his tenure at the club came to an end following their relegation.
Anichebe’s football journey has been noteworthy, beginning with his rise through the ranks of the Everton youth set-up. He spent a commendable seven years at Goodison Park before making the switch to West Bromwich Albion. Additionally, the striker made his debut for the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national team, in 2008. He went on to score one goal in 11 appearances for the team.
Furthermore, Anichebe was a key member of the Nigeria U-23 Eagles that secured a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. His talent and potential have not gone unnoticed, with Bolton Wanderers now expressing interest in bringing him on board.
If the deal materializes, Anichebe’s experience and goal-scoring prowess could be a valuable asset for Bolton in their pursuit of success in the Championship. The club will be hoping to secure a deal with the former Nigeria international, as they seek to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season. With negotiations underway, fans eagerly await confirmation of Anichebe’s potential move to the Macron Stadium.
