Brown Ideye Secures Loan Move to Málaga from Tianjin Teda

Málaga, Spain – Nigerian striker Brown Ideye has finalized a temporary switch to Spanish La Liga side Málaga, departing from the Chinese Super League club Tianjin Teda for the remainder of the season. The completion of the deal was officially declared on Málaga’s website this Monday, following Ideye’s successful passage of the mandatory medical assessments.
In an official statement, Málaga CF revealed, “Málaga CF have signed Brown Ideye on loan until the end of the season, from the Chinese club Tianjin Teda. The striker has already passed the relevant medical examination at the Vithas Salud Rincon Medical Center Rosaleda.”
Born on October 10, 1988, Ideye, aged 29, is renowned for his robust striking capabilities and scoring proficiency across various European leagues. The Nigerian football prodigy initially gained prominence in 2006 and subsequently joined Switzerland’s Neuchatel Xamax in 2007, showcasing his talent until 2009.
Ideye’s football journey continued with stints at FC Sochaux in the French Ligue 1 (2009-11) and Ukrainian powerhouse Dynamo Kyiv (2011-14), where he notably scored two goals in a friendly encounter against Málaga CF during the 2013/14 campaign.
His career further flourished with spells at West Bromwich Albion in the English Premier League (2014-15) and Greece’s Olympiacos FC (2015-17). Ideye’s impressive goal-scoring record captured the attention of the burgeoning Super League in China, leading to his signing with Tianjin Teda last year.
Internationally, Ideye boasts 28 appearances and six goals for Nigeria’s national team, earning him accolades such as the Africa Cup of Nations title in 2013. At the club level, Ideye achieved significant success, clinching the Super League title with Olympiacos, alongside a Ukrainian Cup and Super Cup triumph with Dynamo Kyiv.
