CAF CC: “Bring them all” – Rivers United Morice Chukwu declares ahead of draw

Rivers United’s Morice Chukwu says the Port Harcourt-based side and Nigerian Champions are ready for anybody CAF gives them in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Last night, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said today’s group stage draw for the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup will not take place, having being  postponed indefintely.

Chukwu is looking forward to the draw as he expects the big teams to be drawn with Rivers United.

“From my side, I want to play against the Pyramids of Egypt to show people and the world that we can make it. We want to play against the big teams in Africa,” Chukwu told Brila FM.

“Let’s show them that we can make it. I am praying for my team to meet the likes of Pyramids so that we can play with the best. That is the spirit of the tournament.”

The draw for both tournaments was initially scheduled for Wednesday, 16 November 2022. and a new date and time will be announced by CAF in due course.

Rivers United are in pot 4 of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage draw with Real Bamako, Al Alkhdar, and St

 Eloi Lupopo, while TP Mazembe, Pyramids, Asec Mimosa, and USM Alger are in pot 1.

Rivers United saw off Al Nasr of Libya to make it to the group stage after holding the Libyan side to a 1-1 draw at home and progressed 6-1 on aggregate having won the first leg at home 5-0.
