CAF CL: Akwa Ibom FA backs Enugu Rangers ahead of continental outing

In a show of solidarity and support ahead of Rangers International FC’s CAF Champions League opener against U.S Zilimadjou of Comoros Island, the executives of Akwa Ibom State Football Association (FA) have paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian champions in Uyo.

The Flying Antelopes will face US Zilimadjou at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital on Sunday.

The visit by the state FA leadership led by the Chairman, Samuel Umoh, who was accompanied by the Secretary, Kufre Etukudoh, and board member, Tony Kelvin.

“We are here on behalf of the football family of Akwa Ibom State to encourage you to represent the country well in the CAF Champions League,” Umoh said.

“Remember you are the champions of Nigeria and we want you to play like the true champions when you engage your opponent from the Comoros Island. Count on our full support in the matches you will be playing here.

“Uyo is your home and you will not lack home support. Remember, while playing on the pitch, you are not only playing as Rangers, Enugu state, yourselves, or your family, but you are playing for the entire country, Nigeria. We urge you to be good ambassadors and wish you good luck as we wait to celebrate after the two matches.”

The captain of Rangers International thanked the state FA for their visit while promising that he and his teammates are aware of the task ahead and will not disappoint millions of football followers in the country.

The Akwa Ibom State FA presented packs of bottles of drinking water to the team.

Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side will play the two-legged Preliminary Round match at the same stadium.
