By Wale Mustapha
Despite heading to the second leg of CAF Confederation Cup second round clash RS Berkane with a two-goal cushion, Technical Adviser of Kwara United, Mohammed Azeez has asked his boys to remained focused and determined to secure next round ticket.
Kwara United came back from a goal down at half to record an impressive 3-1 win over Berkane in the first leg of the flash played in Lagos on Sunday.
Three goals in the spate of 18 second half minutes was all United needed to turn the result on its head, thanks to great finish from substitute Taofeek Ahmed, Wasiu Jimoh and Barnabas Daniels rendering early goal from Berkane as consolation.
That lone goal could prove pivotal for the Moroccans heading to the reverse fixture slated for this Saturday in Rabat.
Coach Azeez, who expressed delight with his side’s second half comeback spirted display has requested for improved outing by replicating the last 45 minutes superb performance in Lagos.
“As a football enthusiast, you will want to celebrate how we turn the table around last Sunday and I’ve done that by commending the players and thanked them for that sprited performance,” he warned.
“But we have limited time to do that as you know, the job is done yet, we will need to put up this kind of second half spirit in the return leg for us to qualify for next round, that’s when we can celebrate.”
The former Katsina United manager said the celebration for the win at Mobolaji Johnson Arena could only proved important of Kwara United use it to secure next round ticket against the defending champions.
“We are already working on the lapses noticed in the first leg, how we approached the game especially in the first half, so we will do everything to avoid that and see how we can create more problems for them,” he continued.
“We will need to focus and pay attention to every moves and work on how to dislodge them, we are aware of what will come off the game and I believe so much in the set of players that will prosecute the match for us, will only need to pray for luck to crown our efforts,” he said.
The qualified team from both legs will make it to the second and final preliminary round before the group stages.
