CAF Confederation Cup: Rivers United to get North Africans in group stage, land in Pot 3

Nigeria’s last representative in the 2022/2023 CAF continental competitions, Rivers United may need to heap a sigh of relief yet from another duels with the North African sides.
According to the pots arrangement for the Confederation Cup group state draws that was announced on Thursday may see the 2021/2022 NPFL champions meet another top clubs from North Africa.
Rivers United are placed in Pot 3 alongside AS Bamako of Mali, Lupopo FC from DR Congo and Al Akhdar FC of Libya who eliminated Plateau United in the last playoffs clash.
By arrangements, the Coach Stanley Eguma led side may meet top contenders like Pyramids and Future FC from Egypt, USM Algiers from Algeria, US Monastir of Tunisia or AS FAR Rabat from Morocco who are placed in the other Pots.
The Pride of Rivers may also face other top sides in African club competitions like TP Mazembe from DR Congo, ASEC Mimosa of Ivory Coast or Tanzanian Young Africans.
Rivere United secured their qualification spot on Wednesday haven forced Al Nasr of Libya to a 1-1 draw in Benghazi after their 5-0 home win in the first leg edging the playoffs 6-1 on aggregate.
The draws for the group stage billed to take place in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday, 16th November, 2022.
