CAF salutes Victor Osimhen on FIFA Men’s Best Player nomination

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has saluted the form and feat of Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen after he made the list of 12 shortlisted players for the 2023 FIFA Men’s Best Player of the Year award on Thursday.
The African football ruling body, CAF on their verified X handle congratulated the Napoli forward for his recent milestone.

Osimhen is the only African player who made the shortlist after helping Napoli win the league title last season.
He will compete for the award alongside Julian Alvarez (Argentina), Marcelo Brozovic (Croatia), Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium), Ilkay Gundogan (Germany), Erling Haaland (Norway), Rodri (Spain), Khvicha Kvarastskhelia (Georgia), Kylian Mbappe (France), Lionel Messi (Argentina), Declan Rice (England), and Bernardo Silva (Portugal).
Osimhen was in scintillating form throughout Napoli’s triumphant Serie A campaign. He also won the league’s top goals scorer award.
After the end of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers, he also emerged as the top goal scorer with ten goals.
