CAFCC: Olarenwaju eyes crucial victory for Enyimba as Étoile Filante visits Uyo

By Wale Mustapha

Enyimba head coach, Yemi Olarenwaju, is focused on securing a crucial victory in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup tie against Étoile Filante de Ouagadougou.

This comes after a goalless draw in the first leg held last Friday in Bamako, Mali. Olarenwaju stressed the importance of the return leg, emphasizing that the task is far from complete.

“The job is far from over, and we can’t afford to celebrate yet. Next week’s return leg in Uyo will be crucial,” he remarked.

The former MFM FC coach indicated that his team will regroup and intensify their preparations for the decisive match.

“We’ll go back to the drawing board, work harder, and prepare for the challenge ahead.”

He commended his squad’s tactical discipline and execution, which effectively neutralized the host team’s attacking threats.

“We had a clear game plan, and the players executed it perfectly. Our tactical discipline prevented Étoile Filante de Ouagadougou from creating any meaningful scoring opportunities,” he said.

Despite acknowledging the strength of Étoile Filante de Ouagadougou, Olarenwaju remains confident in his team’s ability to secure a win at home.

“Étoile Filante de Ouagadougou is a formidable opponent, but we have the quality and determination to get the job done in Uyo,” he added.

The second leg of the tie is scheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m., and Enyimba will be looking to capitalize on their home advantage to advance in the competition.
