CAFCL: Remo Stars suffer slim defeat to Medeama in Cape Coast

Remo Stars got off to a losing start with a slim 1-0 defeat against Medeama Sporting Club in the first leg, first round of this year’s CAF Champions League in Ghana on Sunday.
The encounter marked debut outings for both privately owned teams at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Anthony Sowah’s goal from long range in the 21st minute settled the first leg encounter which Remo gave their all but left to rue their created numerous chances.
The Sky Blue Stars started the game brighter and could have taken the lead inside opening 13th minutes but Dayo Ojo headed straight at keeper from Seun Adebirigbe’s delivery via free kick.
Sowah was given a space around the goal area of Remo and took a deflected long range effort which sailed past the hands of Kayode Bankole to give the host their lead.
Isaac James and Sikiru Alimi had their own chances to bring Remo back in the game but fluffed.
With a goal deficit, Remo will return to Ikenne with high hopes of getting the job done in the second leg scheduled to take place next weekend.
