CAFWCL: Bayelsa Queens defender Glory Edet makes 2022 Team of the Tournament

Only one player from bronze-winning Bayelsa Queens made the list of the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League (CAFWCL) Team of the Tournament.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Monday released the Team of the Tournament with Bayelsa Queens’ Glory Ubong Edet the only player from the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Champions making the cut.
Glory Edet occupy the right-back position on the Team of the Tournament after helping Bayelsa Queens clinch bronze medal in its debut appearance.
Bayelsa Queens won three of its five games against TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Wadi Degla of Egypt, and Simba Queens of Tanzania and lost two games to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa and Champions, ASFAR FC of Morocco.
Players from Champions, ASFAR FC dominated the team with six players followed by three players from beaten finalist and 2021 Champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.
Opah Clement of Simba Queens was also the only player from Tanzania Champions on the list.
Khadija Er-rmichi, Aziza Rabah, Ghizlane Chhiri, Siham Boukhami, Fatima Tagnaout, and tournament top goal scorer, Ibtisaam Jraidi represented ASFAR FC on the team of the tournament.
Bambani Mbane, Boitumelo Rabale, and Lelona Daweti represented Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.
ASFAR FC on Sunday thrashed nine-players Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies 4-0 to win the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League title.
Bayelsa Queens had on Saturday edged Simba Queens 1-0 to win the third place match.
