Carabao Cup: Tolu Arokodare nets first Wolves goal in win over Everton

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare scored his first goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers as the Old Gold defeated Everton 2-0 at Molineux to book their place in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

Two African stars provided the breakthrough, with Marshall Munetsi opening the scoring in the first half before Arokodare struck late on to seal the result.

The win was the perfect response for Gary O’Neil’s side after their weekend setback against Leeds United, with Munetsi’s composed finish giving Wolves control before Arokodare capped a strong display by opening his account in England.

The result also marked Wolves’ second victory and first clean sheet of the campaign, providing a timely lift ahead of their Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur in London this weekend.
