Champions League qualification with Galatasaray thrills Oluwatosin Demehin

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria defender Oluwatosin Demehin played a crucial role in helping Galatasaray secure a spot in the group stage of the 2024/2025 UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL).

After a 2-2 draw with Slavia Prague in the first leg, where Demehin made her debut, she started and played a full 90 minutes in the return leg, leading her team to a 2-1 victory away from home.

Expressing her excitement on X, she wrote: “The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.

Action: One word that can turn dreams into reality. Champions League baby 🤩🤩🤩. History is made 😇😇. Perfect timing 😇😇. GOD IS TOO FAITHFUL TO FAIL 💯💯.”

As the only Nigerian player in this season’s Champions League group stage, Demehin and Galatasaray await a favorable draw on Friday.

They could face any of the following teams: Juventus, St. Pölten, AS Roma, FC Twente, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Celtic, Arsenal, Valerenga, Wolfsburg, Hammarby, Chelsea, Lyon, Bayern Munich, or Barcelona.
