Championship: “It made sense for him to move on” – Palmer backs Dennis’ switch to Blackburn

By Wale Mustapha

Former England international Carlton Palmer has expressed confidence that Nigerian striker Emmanuel Dennis will make a significant impact at Blackburn Rovers.

Dennis, 27, joined Rovers on loan from Premier League side Nottingham Forest on the final day of the January transfer window.

Despite limited game time at Forest, the Super Eagles forward continues to be highly regarded for his past performances, including his time in the UEFA Champions League with Belgian side Club Brugge and his solid spells with Watford.

Palmer acknowledged that Dennis may face a difficult start with his new club, but he believes the striker will find his form once he gets match fit.

“Dennis spent part of last season on loan at Watford, so I thought he might return there, but Eustace has secured his signing. He’s a very good signing at this level,” Palmer told Football League World.

“The only problem right now is that he hasn’t had any game time at Forest. It made sense for him to move on. He hasn’t played much football, so it’s going to take him a little bit of time to get up to speed.”
