Nigeria B captain, Nduka Junior, has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to bounce back with a win when they face South Sudan in a crucial Group D encounter at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The Remo Stars defender will lead the squad into their second group-stage match on Tuesday at the Amaan Stadium, Zanzibar, knowing that nothing short of victory will keep Nigeria’s qualification hopes alive following a narrow opening defeat to defending champions Senegal.
“We want to take each game as it comes, and next for us is South Sudan,” Nduka said ahead of the match.
“The previous game was a setback, not a disaster. We have a point to prove, and we are ready to correct our mistakes.”
Nigeria suffered a 1–0 loss to Senegal last week, conceding with a quarter-hour remaining in a match where both sides were limited in attacking chances. With only the group winners guaranteed a place in the knockout stage, Tuesday’s fixture is a must-win for the Super Eagles B side.
Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. local time.
