In a commanding display at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea triumphed over Stoke City with a resounding 5-0 victory, showcasing the depth of their squad. Despite resting star player Eden Hazard, the Blues demonstrated their attacking prowess with goals from Antonio Ruediger, Danny Drinkwater, Pedro Rodriguez, Willian, and Davide Zappacosta.
Nigerian forward Victor Moses made a significant impact in his 14th league appearance of the season before being substituted for Davide Zappacosta in the 57th minute. Chelsea’s dominance continued, marking their fifth consecutive league win since the 1-0 defeat to West Ham on December 9. The win temporarily elevated them to second place, with 45 points, 13 points behind league leaders Manchester City.
In another compelling match, Liverpool secured a 2-1 comeback victory against Leicester City at Anfield. Mohamed Salah, with two clinical goals, orchestrated Liverpool’s revival after Jamie Vardy had given Leicester an early lead. Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa made Leicester’s matchday squad for the first time this season, while Wilfred Ndidi played from the start. Kelechi Iheanacho was not included in the squad.
Liverpool now occupies the fourth position with 41 points, while Leicester, grappling with a winless streak in their last five games across all competitions, is in eighth place with 27 points.
In other Premier League fixtures, Bournemouth secured a 2-1 victory over Everton, ending Sam Allardyce’s unbeaten streak since taking charge. Swansea, under new manager Carlos Carvalhal, rallied from behind to beat Watford 2-1. Meanwhile, Newcastle and Brighton played out a goalless draw, as did Burnley and Huddersfield.
These results add further intrigue to the Premier League table, promising an exciting continuation of the season.
