Paris FC shot-stopper, Chiamaka Nnadozie is in the running for the best goalkeeper award in the French women’s league.
The Nigeria international has been nominated by the Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionels (UNFP) for the best goalkeeper award in the French league alongside others.
Nnadozie joined Paris FC from Nigerian outfit Rivers Angels in 2020 and is the youngest goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, a feat achieved against Korea in France in 2019, aged 18 and 186 days.
The Super Falcons goalkeeper kept 13 clean sheets in 19 league matches last season but lost the award as the best to Endler.
This season, the 22-year-old kept nine clean sheets in 19 league appearances for Paris FC who occupy third position on the league table with 35 points from 20 games.
However, she will once again have to battle Christine Endler of Olympic Lyon and Laetitia Philippe of Le Havre, to defend the honor.
The Nigerian goalkeeper currently tops the list of the best shot-stopping goalkeeper in the top European + NWSL leagues as she has the highest rate (4.6 PSxG) for saving more shots than the expected goals against.
She recently extended her stay in France by penning a new contract that will see her play in the D1 Arkema until June 2025.
Upon receipt from Laurent Pionnier, a former French goalkeeper and a top member of the UNFP, Nnadozie shared the nomination certificate with her teammates and Pierre Ferraci, the President of her club.
