Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has inspired Paris FC to qualify for the 2023/2024 UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) for the second season in a row with her ninth clean sheet on Saturday.
The French capital based club thrashed Rodez Aveyron 4-0 on Saturday away from home in the last game of the 2022/2023 French D1 Arkema season.
Nnadozie was making her 21st start of the season and aiming to ensure a win guaranteed their qualification to the European football.
Clara Mateo got the Parisians off to a flying start in the first half as she opened the scoring in the 35th minute.
Mathilde Bourdieu doubled the lead for the visitors in the 53rd minute while Ouleymata Sarr made it 3-0 in the 71st minute.
Five minutes later, Sarr once against converted her second goal of the encounter to seal the win for Paris FC.
Nnadozie was behind the sticks for the full 90 minutes for her 21st league game as she only missed one of her team’s 22 games in the league this season.
Last season (2021/2022), she played all of her side’s 21 league games, keeping nine clean sheets in the process.
With the win, Paris sealed a third position on the log with 42 points, three points ahead of fourth-placed Fleury.
Nnadozie and Paris FC couldn’t make it to the group stage of this season’s UWCL and will hope to surpass their previous best when the qualifiers for the competition resume.
