Chidera Ejuke boosts Sevilla ahead of La Liga Opener after injury layoff

By Dayo Awoniyi

Nigeria winger Chidera Ejuke has provided Sevilla FC with a crucial boost ahead of their highly anticipated La Liga opener against Athletic Bilbao this Sunday, returning to full training after a thigh injury sidelined him for nearly a month.

Ejuke, 27, joined his teammates in Thursday morning’s training session, as reported by eldesmarque.com, signaling that he is on track for the match at San Mamés Stadium, one of the most formidable venues in Spanish football.

The injury, which occurred during training last month, had kept the former CSKA Moscow star out of action, but his swift recovery could prove pivotal for Sevilla as they aim for a strong start to the new season. Ejuke’s pace and dribbling ability make him a key attacking option for Quique Sánchez Flores, the club’s manager.

The Nigerian international, who arrived at Sevilla on a free transfer from CSKA Moscow last summer, has faced an ongoing battle with injuries since joining the Spanish side. In the previous season, he was sidelined for nearly four months due to a hamstring issue. Despite these setbacks, Ejuke still managed to make a meaningful contribution, registering two goals and one assist in 25 La Liga appearances.

With his return to full fitness, Ejuke will be keen to establish himself as a key figure in Sevilla’s attacking setup this term, as the club looks to make a strong impression in both La Liga and European competition.

Sevilla will face Athletic Bilbao in the opening fixture of the new season on Sunday, with Ejuke’s inclusion adding further depth to a squad eager to build on their past successes.
