Chippa United opens talks with foreign clubs over possible sale of Stanley Nwabali

Siviwe Mpengesi, Chief Executive Officer of Chippa United, has revealed that there is a strong possibility of Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali leaving the club at the end of the season.
The Super Eagles’ first-choice goalkeeper has been the subject of transfer speculation, with several Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs and foreign teams expressing interest in acquiring his services.
Nwabali showcased his talents during the recent African Cup of Nations, leading the three-time AFCON winners to a second-place finish in the tournament held in Ivory Coast.
Sky Bet Championship side Queens Park Rangers (QPR) and Saudi Arabia’s El-Ettifaq were reportedly linked with the shot-stopper during the competition.
Belgian side Royale Union Saint Gilloise, Orlando Pirates, and Kaizer Chiefs are also said to be interested in the former Wikki Tourists and Lobi Stars goalkeeper.
Mpengesi confirmed ongoing discussions with foreign clubs and stated that they would not stand in Nwabali’s way if a suitable offer is received.
“We are in talks with a few clubs abroad. We believe he deserves something better, especially after his performance at the AFCON,” said Mpengesi in an interview with iDiski Times.
“You know, being the number two goalkeeper for the runner-ups, he was the second-best goalkeeper of AFCON.
“So if an opportunity arises, especially abroad, even if it’s a local offer for him, it’s not for us. If the offer for him is better, then we will not hold on to him.”
