Christian Obodo explains Samuel Chukwueze underwhelming form for Nigeria

Christian Obodo has explained the reasons why tricky winger, Samuel Chukwueze has a dip in form while playing for the Nigeria senior national team.

Following his latest superb display at Real, the former Nigeria midfielder attributed Chukwueze’s fantastic performance for club to the bond with teammates while limited time with national teammates affects his input.

“For Samuel Chukwueze, when he started in Laliga, he played well there and also for the national team. But at a time, he started performing well in the national team, he’s also one of my favorite,” Obodo told Brilla FM.

“Why they perform well at club level than the national team is because they play with their club teammates day in day out, unlike the national team, they come around just a week. The bond isn’t too well.

“I’ll say it again, that it’s the personality, although they are all top players in their club sides but they barely perform in the national team.”

Villarreal forward, Chukwueze had a breathtaking performance against Real Madrid as he scored a valuable brace in the Yellow Submarines famous 3-2 win at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday and completed seven dribbles against the Los Blancos.

Chukwueze has registered six goals and five assists this season for the Yellow Submarines.
