Chukwuma Akabueze Revels in Boluspor Victory and Sets Sights on World Cup Dream

Nigerian winger Chukwuma Akabueze expressed his joy after contributing to Boluspor’s impressive ninth league victory of the season in the Turkish TFF First League (second division) on Saturday. Boluspor secured a commanding win with goals from Yusuf Emre, Gultekin, Melih Okutan, and Rydell Poepon, elevating them to seventh in the Turkish TFF First League table with 13 games remaining.
Akabueze, a pivotal player in the encounter with his 21st appearance for Boluspor and two assists, conveyed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and aspires for a consistent winning streak until the conclusion of the season. In a statement to CSN, Akabueze said, “It was a great win, and I hope this continues till the end of the season. We still have a long way to go.”
The 28-year-old, who was part of the Flying Eagles squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada, holds lofty ambitions. He is not only focused on Boluspor’s success but also harbors hopes of catching the attention of coach Gernot Rohr for a spot in the Super Eagles squad at the upcoming Russia 2018 World Cup.
Expressing his aspirations, Akabueze stated, “It’s the dream of every player to be in the squad for the World Cup, and I believe I can be a valuable asset to the team.” Known affectionately as ‘Bentley,’ Akabueze’s football journey began at Kwara United in Nigeria, and he has since played for Odds BK, SK Brann, and Wuhan Zall, showcasing a wealth of experience that he believes could contribute to the success of the national team.
