Cross River State named host for 2024 NWFL Championship

The 2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship where teams will gain promotion to the top flight will take place in Calabar, Cross River State capital.

In a statement, the NWFL Chief Operating Officer (COO), Ms Modupe Shabi, confirmed the date for the NWFL Championship and venue, with the 2024 NWFL Championship to commence from August 31 to September 8, 2024.

Arrival date for teams is billed for August 29, a day before the draws. Matchday one and two will take place on August 31 and September 1 respectively before rest day on September 2.

Matchday Three and four has been scheduled for September 3 and 4 respectively while September 5 will serve as the second rest day.

On September 6, there will be Matchday five before the third rest day on September 7.

Matchday 6 on September 8 will determine the teams that will gain promotion to the NWFL Premiership and those that will drop to third tier Nationwide League.

A total number of 17 teams will jostle for two promotion tickets. They will be drawn into four groups of four teams.
