Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has expressed his satisfaction with the Super Eagles’ 1-0 victory over Libya in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Friday.

Nwabali, who kept a clean sheet in the encounter held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, was instrumental in ensuring Nigeria’s hard-fought victory over the Mediterranean Knights.

Substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s late strike, assisted by Moses Simon, secured the win and took Nigeria to the top of Group D with seven points from three matches.

Reacting to the team’s performance, Nwabali shared his thoughts with a popular Nigerian saying on his X account, commenting: “Cony man die, cony man bury am. Great team performance and clean sheet.”

The Chippa United captain, who is expected to be in goal for the reverse fixture on Tuesday in Benina, also praised the team’s collective effort, which led to their narrow victory against the North Africans.

Nigeria will aim to build on this win when they face Libya once again in the return leg, with qualification for the 2025 AFCON within their grasp.
