Daniel Amokachi unveiled as 22Bet’s Pan-African football ambassador

Lagos, Nigeria – 5 August 2026 Former Super Eagles striker Daniel Amokachi has been appointed 22Bet’s Pan-African Brand Ambassador at a ceremony in Lagos.

The unveiling took place at BON Hotels, GRA Ikeja, with members of the sports media and football stakeholders attending the event.

Amokachi, widely known as “The Bull”, was a key figure in Nigeria’s golden generation. He helped the Super Eagles win the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations before being part of the Nigerian team that won Olympic gold at the Atlanta 1996 Games.

The former striker also represented Nigeria at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups.

At club level, Amokachi played for Club Brugge, where he scored the first goal in UEFA Champions League history, as well as Everton and Besiktas. He was part of the Everton side that won the FA Cup in 1995.

His career continues to serve as a reference point for many young Nigerian forwards and has helped establish him as one of the country’s most recognisable football figures.

22Bet said the partnership would seek to celebrate African football culture, support young players and local football communities, and promote positive values around the game.

Fikayo Ogunfuye, 22Bet Nigeria Country Manager, described the agreement as an important moment for both the company and African football.

“Today is an important day for 22Bet Nigeria and for African football. We are proud to officially unveil Daniel Amokachi as 22Bet’s Pan-African Brand Ambassador. This partnership is not about short-term visibility it is about purpose. Daniel joins our pan-African sports platform to support football culture, local communities, and responsible engagement across Africa.”

Amokachi said his own football journey had shaped his desire to support the next generation and contribute to communities across the continent.

“Football gave me everything. It took a boy from Kaduna and gave him the world. Africa has incredible talent. I want to support young players and football communities. This partnership is about giving back and telling African football stories the real stories of hard work, sacrifice, and hope that too often go unheard.”

Under the partnership, 22Bet and Amokachi will work to spread the word about African football, while focusing on football culture, community engagement and responsible participation in sports entertainment.

The agreement also brings together an international sports entertainment brand with a former Nigeria international whose playing career included major achievements for both club and country.

Amokachi remains an influential voice in African football. Alongside his contributions to Nigeria’s national team, his time with Club Brugge, Everton and Besiktas made him one of the most prominent Nigerian players of his era.

He won the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria in 1994, claimed Olympic gold two years later and appeared at two FIFA World Cups.

22Bet is an international sports entertainment brand with a growing presence across Africa. The company says it is committed to supporting football culture, community engagement and responsible participation in sports entertainment.
