David Ozoh attracts interest from Hull City and Derby County despite Crystal Palace pre-season involvement

David Ozoh remains the subject of transfer interest from Hull City and Derby County, despite featuring in Crystal Palace’s preparations for the new season following their UEFA Conference League success.

The 21-year-old midfielder is also being monitored by French Ligue 1 club Marseille and German side Cologne, as uncertainty continues over his future at Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace are understood to be prepared to consider offers for Ozoh if a significant proposal is received.

Ozoh was born in Valencia and is eligible to represent Spain, England and Nigeria. He has made clear his desire to play international football for Nigeria, although he has previously represented England at under-18 level.

According to Football Insider, Hull City, who are new to the Premier League, and Championship club Derby County are among the teams interested in signing the midfielder. Derby already know Ozoh well after he spent the previous two seasons on loan at the club.

During his time with Derby County, Ozoh made 47 appearances in all competitions and scored three goals. His spells away from Crystal Palace were intended to provide him with more regular first-team experience, something that could again influence his decision over the next stage of his career.

Despite the growing interest, Ozoh has been involved in Crystal Palace’s pre-season work and has reportedly impressed the club’s new manager. That form has not, however, ruled out a permanent departure, with Palace said to be willing to sanction a sale should the right offer arrive.

Ozoh has been part of the Crystal Palace academy since he was eight. He progressed through the club’s youth system before making his senior debut in a Premier League match against Newcastle United.

The midfielder has now entered the final year of his contract with Crystal Palace, increasing the importance of any decision over his future. The club must weigh up the potential value of retaining a player who has caught the manager’s eye during pre-season against the possibility of allowing him to leave while he remains under contract.

For Ozoh, the next move will also carry international significance. His eligibility for three national teams means his performances at club level could help shape his prospects with Nigeria, Spain or England. At present, his stated preference is to represent Nigeria.

Interest from both England and overseas suggests there may be several options available to the Spanish-born midfielder. Hull City and Derby County are competing with Marseille and Cologne for his signature, while Crystal Palace consider whether to keep him for the coming campaign or accept a substantial offer before his contract expires.
