Deborah Abiodun thrilled with opportunity at Dallas Trinity FC

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria midfielder Deborah Abiodun is enjoying her loan spell at USL side, Dallas Trinity.

She played a pivotal role in helping Dallas Trinity to a 6-0 thrashing of Brooklyn last weekend.

The Super Falcons player who played for Rivers Angels in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership before moving to the University of Pittsburgh says it is a privilege to play with Dallas Trinity.

“I am fulfilled, I am super excited and super grateful for this opportunity. It’s nothing but a dream come true for me. It has been a long journey coming for me,” she told ScoreNigeria.

“It’s a great feeling here. Dallas Trinity FC is one big family; I love it here. It’s a big privilege playing here professionally.”

The 21-year-old played a key role in Dallas Trinity’s 6-0 mauling of Brooklyn FC in a league match at the Cotton Bowl Stadium Dallas.

The Washington Spirit announced on January 6, 2025, that they had signed Abiodun to a three-year contract with an option to extend for an additional year. She will be loaned out to Dallas Trinity FC for more playing time.

Abiodun made Super Falcons squad at the last two international tournaments; 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and women’s football tournament of Paris 2024 Olympics.

She is expected to make the team ahead of this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
