Doma United goalkeeper Kingdom Osayi has called for more players from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to be included in the national team.
Currently, Enyimba shot-stopper Olorunleke Ojo, Remo Stars fullback Sodiq Ismail, and Rangers left-back Kenneth Igboke are the NPFL players included in the Super Eagles squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifier games against South Africa on June 7 in Uyo and Benin Republic on June 10 in Abidjan.
Osayi is pleased with the decision to include more players from Nigeria’s top-flight league in the national team. He believes these players have the necessary skills to compete with their foreign-based counterparts.
“The NPFL players have what it takes to compete in the Super Eagles,” Osayi was quoted by Brila FM. “They have all the qualities that are required. All they need is a chance to prove themselves, that’s it.”
The former MFM FC goalkeeper emphasized the potential impact of domestic players if given the opportunity to showcase their talents.
Super Eagles will be hoping to improve their standing in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a win against South Africa on home ground.
