By Saheed Afolabi
Nigeria defender, Osinachi Ohale has revealed her expectations against Australia in Thursday’s FIFA Women’s World Cup second group B match in Brisbane.
Chimaka Nnadozie’s goalkeeping heroics hellped the Super Falcons claim a 0-0 draw against Canada in their opening match of the ongoing global showpiece in Down Under.
And the 31-year-old reflected on the draw with Canada, while assuring her side will do better to right their wrongs against the Olympic champions when they meet co-hosts this week.
“It was a very difficult game, we knew it was going to be difficult and we were prepared,” Ohale told FIFA TV.
“From the first 15 minutes, it was difficult for us to get our rhythm and we dropped deeper than we should. So I think we got punished a little bit and then we found our feet once again and we started stepping up.
“It’s our first game and stuffs like this happen and we are going back to work on creating our chances because it’s going to be crucial in our next game.
“Wwe know that we are not out, we will work on our remaining two games, I mean they are two important games and we will try to take it one game at a time.
“Super Falcons can go all the way because this is a football game and you can never write it off. We are here to play football, we are here to compete and we are here to take it one game at a time.”
The Super Falcons will lock horns with Australia in their second group encounter on July 27 and wrap up the group game against Republic of Ireland on July 31.
Nigeria needs to win her next game against the Matildas to keep their qualification hopes alive.
