“Door is not shut” — John Obi Mikel optimistic about Victor Osimhen’s potential Chelsea move

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel is still optimistic about Victor Osimhen securing a move to the Premier League giants.
The 26-year-old striker was heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League in the summer, but a move failed to materialise so he joined Galatasaray on loan instead.
While his contract at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium expires in June 2026, the Super Eagles star has featured 18 times in the Süper Lig this season, scoring 14 goals and providing four assists.
However, with Chelsea still struggling to find consistency in front of goal, Mikel believes that the door is still open for Osimhen to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
“Chelsea has always been his club. He has come out openly to say it’s his childhood club, growing up, he’s always wanted to play for the club,” Mikel said on the Obione podcast.
“His idol is Didier Drogba. He loved the way he played. He made it pretty clear that this is a club he wants to come to.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t get it done last summer, but listen, you never know, I don’t think the door is shut completely.”
