Drama as Semifinalists Emerge at Nigeria Beach Soccer League Super Finals

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The final group games of the 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) Super Finals delivered a thrilling finish on Friday at the Jabi Lake Park, Abuja, as teams sealed their semifinal spots in dramatic style.

In the opening game of the day, Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors edged Ibom BSC 1–0, courtesy of a second-period strike from captain Gabriel Chinweze. Despite Ibom’s late pressure in search of an equalizer, the Nnewi-based side held firm to record their first victory of the Super Finals.

The evening session produced even more drama as Jigawa Golden Stars BSC stunned 2022 champions Kada BSC with a 5–4 victory.
Bagudu Hamza inspired the win with a brilliant hat-trick, while Nasiru Atahiru and Magudi Atahiru added one goal each.

For Kada BSC, Frank Dozie, Sani Hassan, Victor Tale, and Tanko Emmanuel were on target, but their efforts proved insufficient as they suffered their first defeat of the season.

In the day’s final fixture, defending champions Kebbi Fishers BSC were held to a 1–1 draw by Ibom BSC in a pulsating contest. After two goalless periods, Jude Uwaoma appeared to have sealed victory for Ibom late in the third period, only for Ekene Obi to level matters moments later, forcing the game into penalties.
Kebbi Fishers eventually triumphed 3–1 in the shootout to claim maximum points.

At the end of the group stage, Kebbi Fishers BSC topped Group A with four points, followed by Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors with three, while Ibom BSC finished with one point.

In Group B, all three teams ended level on three points each. However, Kada BSC advanced as group leaders with a superior goal difference (+2), while Kebbi United BSC secured second place ahead of Jigawa Golden Stars BSC on head-to-head advantage, as both sides had identical goal differences (–1).

The classification and semifinal fixtures are now set:

5th/6th Place Match: Jigawa Golden Stars BSC vs Ibom BSC (Morning)

1st Semifinal: Kebbi Fishers BSC vs Kebbi United BSC (“Kebbi Derby”)

2nd Semifinal: Kada BSC vs Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors

The Super Finals continue Saturday as the race for the 2025 NBSL title intensifies in Abuja.
