Drug Abuse: Kwara United to get sensitization lectures from NDLEA

By Wale Mustapha

The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) will conduct a sensitisation programme for Kwara United players on the dangers of drug abuse in football.

The session is scheduled for Saturday, October 5th, at the Kwara Sports Complex in Ilorin.

Fatimah Abiola Popoola, the Commander General of the NDLEA’s Kwara State Division, will lead the initiative, which is part of the agency’s wider effort to address drug use in Nigerian football.

It has been observed that some footballers in the country have resorted to taking hard drugs to boost their performance on the field.

The sensitisation programme will be extended to other clubs in the league as part of the NDLEA’s ongoing crusade to promote healthy, drug-free sporting environments.

This comes after the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) established a committee to monitor and combat drug use within the league.
