Nigeria and WAFU-B Champions, Edo Queens has landed in Morocco for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Players and officials of the club departed Nigeria and landed in Morocco on Thursday, the same day of their departure.
An update on their departure and arrival was posted on the team’s social media pages.
“Touchdown 🛬 in Morocco! We have safely landed and received a warm welcome from our hosts. We’re ready, focused, and excited for the journey ahead! 🌍⚽,” the team posted.
After winning their maiden Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership title this year, the club became Nigeria’s third club to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens represented the country at the tournament in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Winning the West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Zonal Qualifiers qualified the Benin City-based side for the fourth edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
They will face holders, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies (South Africa), Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, and Masar FC (Egypt) in Group B.
Bayelsa Queens remained Nigeria’s best representative at the tournament with a bronze medal finish.
Moses Aduku’s side hopes to replicate and even surpass that feat this year.
