The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced participation fees for clubs taking part in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.

Each of the eight teams that are participating in the fourth edition of the tournament in Morocco will receive at least 150,000 Dollars.

This will be the first time that teams will be receiving participation fees after CAF adopted the same module for clubs in men’s CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup Preliminary Round.

In 2021, the maiden edition of the competition did not attract any prize money while CAF commenced the introduction of cash prizes in 2022.

According to a press release by CAF on Thursday, the 2024 prize money has increased by 52% to 2,350,00 Dollars.

The champions of this year’s edition will smile home with 600,000 US Dollars. Prize monies doled out to clubs are aimed at investing in youth academies for boys and girls.

The runners-up will get 400,000 Dollars, and the third-place winners will be awarded 350,000 Dollars.

Fourth-placed finishers and teams that finished fourth in their group will get between 300,000 and 150,000 Dollars.

This means that Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership champions, Edo Queens, which also won the West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) title, will get not less than 150,000 Dollars for participating in the tournament.
