Ekene Adams: Reps member elect banned from NPFL for assaulting match referee

The Interim Management Committee, have suspension newly House of Representative member elect, Honorable Ekene Adams from Nigeria Premier Football League for assaulting match official on Tuesday.

The NPFL organisers ordered that Honorable Ekene be suspended for the rest of the season after his unsporting behaviour against the centre referee, Ndubuisi Ukah in a NPFL tie between Remo Stars and Gombe United.

The match official refused to come out for the second half of the match on Sunday as a result of the assault which was later concluded on Monday morning and ended goalless.

According to summary of jurisdiction by IMC’s Head of Operations, Davidson Owumi, Remo Stars were docked three points and three goals as well as a fine of #1.5million for breaching parts of the rules guiding the NPFL.

“For breach of Rules C.11, three points and three goals was ordered to be deducted from the total points and goals accrued to the club for the assault on the match official while Mr. Ekene Adams identified as the attacker has been banned from all NPFL activities for the rest of the season,” he said.

Remo Stars is also to ensure diligent prosecution in the law court, of Mr. Adams who is the Club’s General Manager”. The statement added.

Honorable Adams had earlier won his election to represent the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State in the 10th National Assembly under the flagship of Labour Party in the February 25th general elections.
