Ekiti Queens and Ibom Angels Cleared for Home Games as NWFL Lifts Sanctions

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has announced the return of Ekiti Queens to their home ground in Ado-Ekiti following the successful completion of a venue sanction.

The Southwest-based club had been required to relocate their home fixtures to Abeokuta after breaching NWFL regulations concerning matchday organization and security protocols. Having served the sanction and demonstrated full compliance with league standards, Ekiti Queens are now cleared to host home matches in Ado-Ekiti, starting from Matchday 12 of the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership season. The club is set to officially celebrate their return on Matchday 15 against Southwest rivals Pacesetter Queens.

In a related move, the NWFL has lifted the spectator restriction previously imposed on Ibom Angels FC for their home fixtures in Uyo. The South-South club had faced sanctions following incidents involving crowd control and violations of matchday conduct regulations, forcing recent matches to be played behind closed doors. Following a review of the club’s security arrangements and adherence to league guidelines, fans will be readmitted beginning with the Matchday 12 fixture against Adamawa Queens.

The NWFL reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and integrity across all match venues and commended both Ekiti Queens and Ibom Angels for their cooperation and compliance during the period of their sanctions.
