Electoral Committee releases guidelines, timetable for Lagos State FA, Council polls

The process to herald new leadership for the Lagos State Football Association and its affiliate local councils has commenced with the announcement of election guidelines and timetable.
Chairman of the electoral committee, Alhaji Azeez Tijani who gave the hint about the process in Lagos on Thursday stated that interested candidates for various positions have been making their intentions known.
Alhaji Tijani hinted that the elections into the local council will hold on May 12 after as sales of forms will commence on 28 of April just as he advised all candidates to play by the rules governing the process.
“This is to inform the football stakeholders in the state that the sales of registration forms for divisional football association would commence on 28, April and we expect the interested candidates to pick their forms and submit their registration forms on and before 6th May.
“We are going to screen the candidates on 8 and 9, May, while the elections proper into division would hold on 12th of May, 2023. I urge the candidates to adhere strictly to the electoral guidelines and wish all candidates all the best.”
Tijani said the elections into Lagos State Football Association would hold on 24 May, 2023, while the registration forms and submission of registration forms have been fixed between 28th of April and 8 May, 2023.
According to him, the screening for candidates would hold on 15th May, 2023.
Tijani, however insisted that the elections in both divisions and state FA would be conducted in free and fair manner and urged the interested candidates to shun vices that can undermine the process of the elections.
“The elections into Lagos FA is drawing nearer and I want to say that the Lagos FA elections would hold on 24,May and of course the registration forms would be available on 28 April, while the submission for the registration forms would be 8, May, 2023.
“The guidelines is very important for all the interested candidates and I want the football stakeholders to follow our guidelines throughout our electoral process,” he said.
On price of the registration forms, DFA chairman goes for N100,000, board members are N50,000,while a female candidate vying for position for DFA board member is N25,000.
Contesting for Chairman’s position of Lagos FA, Tijani disclosed that interested candidate would pay N200,000 for registration form, as Vice chairman’ seat goes to N175,000.
According to Tijani, the registration forms for board members cost N100,000, while female candidate vying for Lagos FA board members would pay N50,000 for registration form.
