Emmanuel Adebayor backs Victor Osimhen for 2023 African Player of the Year

Former Real Madrid and Arsenal striker, Emmanuel Adebayor has backed Victor Osimhen to clinch the African Footballer of the Year 2023 award after marking a remarkable season with Napoli.
Nigeria star, Osimhen was instrumental to the Partenopei ending their 33 year wait for the Serie A title by contributing 26 goals to the league triumph.
And the former Togolese international, believes Osimhen was the best player to be crowned Africa Footballer of the Year because of his contribution to Napoli, stressing that if he’s given 12 votes, he will dedicate the votes to the Super Eagles star.
“It’s very simple, we have seen the season and for me if you ask me who deserve the 2023 African Player of the Year award its Osimhen, because of what he has done with Napoli, scoring in all the biggest games in Italy and also winning the Scudetto,” Adebayor was quoted by Complete Sports.
“He has done quite well, who is there (to challenge Osimhen) Sadio Mane was injured and had a difficult season, Mohamed Salah had one of his worst season in his career, there’s the guy from Cameroon Zambo Anguissa but the star player in Napoli is Osimhen.
“If you ask me to vote and I am given 10 votes I will give 12 to Osimhen for the 2023 African Player of the Year.”
The Super Eagles forward announced himself to the world as a world class striker as he scores the most goals in the Italian Serie A to scoop home the highest goal scorer award.
