After sealing the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title last weekend, Enugu Rangers finally got their hands on the title on Sunday.
The Flying Antelopes edged Gombe United 2-1 in Jos to end the season campaign on a winning note.
Kazeen Ogunleye scored the opening goal of the match as early as the third minute of play. Four minutes later, Godwin Obaje doubled the lead for Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side.
Anas Hassan pulled a goal back for relegated Gombe United in the 25th minute of play.
The second half didn’t produce any goals as the game ended 2-1 in favour of Rangers International on a day when they got their hands on the league title presented by the President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau.
The Enugu-based outfit finished the season with 70 points and will represent Nigeria at the 2024/2025 CAF Champions League alongside the second-placed team.
It will be the first time that coach Ilechukwu will lift the league title after second-place finishes at MFM FC and Plateau United.
