Enugu Rangers, Kwara United set for Federation Cup semifinal clash in Lagos

By Dayo Awoniyi

The semifinal stage of the 2025 President Federation Cup will take center stage on Wednesday with two high-stakes encounters scheduled for Lagos and Abuja.

Former champions Rangers International of Enugu will face Kwara United in a much-anticipated showdown at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, while Ikorodu City and Abakaliki FC will battle in Abuja at the Bwari Stadium. Both fixtures are slated to kick off at 4 p.m.

Rangers, aiming to reclaim the trophy, have had an impressive run to the last four, eliminating top teams including Kano Pillars, Heartland FC, Bendel Insurance, and Plateau United.

Kwara United have also shown resilience, dispatching Cynosure FC, Gombe United, Solution FC, and Akwa United in their path to the semifinals.

In the second semifinal, dark horses Abakaliki FC—who have stunned the competition with wins over Yobe Desert Stars, Katsina United, Enyimba FC, and Nasarawa United—will take on Ikorodu City.

The Lagos-based side booked their place with a dramatic penalty shootout win over Sunshine Stars’ U-19 side before going on to defeat Crown FC, Beyond Limits FC, and Wikki Tourists.

Winners of Wednesday’s matches will advance to the final of Nigeria’s oldest domestic football competition, with the ultimate prize and national glory at stake.
