Enyimba dump Rivers United out of 2023 Federation Cup after quarterfinal win

Just four days after crashing out of CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United have also been dumped out of the 2023 Federation Cup by Enyimba.

The Nigerian league champions arrived Nigeria on Wednesday and went straight to the Round of 64 clash against Peoples’ Elephant in a match fixed for Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

The headline quarterfinal fixture of the competition didn’t fall short of providing an epoch match. Both sides failed to cancel each other out in regulation time despite the good display from the two Nigerian giants.

After barren full time outcome, the match, however was eventually decided by penalties which Enyimba triumphed 5-4 in the end and advanced to next round of the prestigious national competition.

Rivers United will now put their total attention on how to defend their Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL title.
