Erasmus Onuh talks up Abia Warriors’ title chances after win at Enugu Rangers

By Saheed Afolabi
Abia Warriors head coach Erasmus Onuh is dream of their possibility of winning the Nigeria Premier Football League title after Sunday’s 2-0 victory at Enugu Rangers in Akwa.
The Uchendu Warriors stunned the Flying Antelopes 2-0 in an enthralling encounter as Kalu Nweke’s 41st minute strike and Monday Yakubu’s second half effort handed the former a dream start in Anambra State.
And Onuh believes the opening day triumph is a major boost to their dream to claim the title, while attributing their impressive outing against Rangers to team’s discipline and preparation.
“That’s the beginning, I’ve been asked several times what am I going to do in my first match and we took it as it come and we are taking it as it come, I cannot tell you, I will win this match but I will be taking the match as it comes,” he told media.
“If the opportunity comes for me to win the league, I’m happy but you know, you cannot say, you only know about yourself and not about somebody else, so you take them as they come.
“Every match has its own preparation. There’s nothing different than hard-work, I have boys who are cooperating, fantastic and I have got discipline team in the league.
“Actually, we are seeing something but we don’t know what will happen next, we will take it as it comes, we have taken this untill another one comes, then we will know what to say.
“You know actually this is not the main squad that we are supposed to use in this match because of hiccups in the registration, so they are here, if you look at us we are 16, we have to change the plan but you know I make every player familiar with every position, anywhere I play you, you have to give me the result.”
